Nokia expands media network globally
Nokia, one of the world's largest manufacturers of Mobile River handsets, is devising a play to become one of the largest mobile media networks. It announced yesterday at the Mobile River World United States Congress the Nokia Media web would go global with a roll of newly signed publishers. The Nokia Media web, which has served parts of Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia, will now open to a global audience including North United States, Canada, South United States, Brazil, United Mexican States, China, Soviet Union, and areas of Europe not antecedently served by Nokia. Competing ad networks include Quattro Wireless, Millennial Media, and AOL's Third silver screen Media. Sites such as AccuWeather, Discovery, William Randolph Hearst, Reuters, and dash joined the Nokia web; Sprint ads were antecedently served by Enpocket, which Nokia acquired. The web is also comprised of Nokia place, including its Mobile River social networking siteMosh, Nokia.mobi. Additional properties, which Nokia has either built or acquired over time, include Navteq and Gate5 GPS pilotage services; Twango and Ovi photo sharing sites; game platform N-gage; and other chance for advertisers. "These are areas we're exploring the right way to incorporate advertising, the mantra being respectful and relevant," said Mike Baker, VP and head of Nokia Interactive. "We are disbursement a lot of time and focus on the right way to incorporate advertising helping, compiling a way of ad helping across these services." BMW, Paramount, and MobiTV are among the trade name that have advertised on the web. Inventory consists of criterion Mobile selling Association compliant ad units, both graphical banners and text links. "The point of the web is to give a uniform ad unit and ability to purchase and track campaigns on a worldwide basis," said Baker. Individually, the Nokia Interactive unit is workings on the creative activity of new Mobile River ad units. To serve the needs of global publishers and advertisers, Nokia expanded the account management and sales teams in many of its offices throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. |
